News article for the Juniors Section
Fantastic weather and some equally impressive golf appeared for the Junior Final Fling. The juniors have had a great season and all those who could make it to the event attended with a smile on their face. Ben McDougall won the 18 hole competition with an excellent 41 points on greens that had recently been subjected to the winter maintenance programme ... no mean feat. Millie Browne has produced a consistent season and came second before heading off to Portugal to participate in the Daily Telegraph Junior Open. That is a great achievement and we wish her all the best.
9 holes was closely contested and a 3 hole countback saw Harry Hilton come out on top after shooting 60. Leo Browne came second and Blake Hamblett took third. Some young golfers developing their game in the 9 hole category.
5 holes is where it all begins and Aiyush Raj, who is in his first season, shot 34 to win the competition. Jamie Granville and Arian Booth also put up good performances.
Molly Campbell, who has been accepted onto the England Golf coaching programme, won the most improved golfer award and also was awarded the captaincy for 2023. Well done Molly and congratulations on another good season. We are also pleased that Millie Marsh has been accepted onto the England Golf programme. Great achievements from two great young golfers.
The Junior Matchplay Shield was played this year for the first time in 3 years and was won by Callum Deaton and the runner up was Lucas Granville. This event produced some very close matches that went to extra holes and all the juniors who participated learnt something from the experience.
Thanks to everyone who helped out with the junior section. The juniors really appreciate it.
