News article for the Juniors Section
A fantastic afternoon of exciting competitive junior golf was played out at the weekend in chase of the Eric Gibson Claret Jug ... a fantastic replica of the real Claret Jug kindly donated by BFGC member Richard Hayden who supports this important junior season opener. Some splendid play by the winner Amelia Nugent with 41 points won the coveted trophy which was kindly presented by our Lady Captain, Sue Northridge. In the 9 hole competition played off the red pots the 'mighty atom' Leo Browne amassed 21 points with some pinpoint play and a self styled 'birdie dance' that was performed on a few holes. In Beeston Fields tradition, no one is too young to play a game of golf, and the 5 hole competiton was won by Matthew Jenkins who also managed to win nearest the pin on the 3rd. Well done to all who played and enjoyed the afternoon ... keep up the practice.
